Staghorn Ferns are Epiphytes found from Southeast Asia, Australia, South America, to Africa. They grow on tree trunks and branches, so they adapt easily to being mounted or hung forming a large ball shaped growth. ( AKA Elkhorn fern )

The plant has two distinct leaves, a basal and a foliar or fertile frond. The basal are round overlapping layers that hold the plant onto a surface. The "foliar fronds" either erect or pendant produce sporangia on the underside.
